We agreed to:

  • Halt and begin to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS.
  • Halt and begin to reverse the incidence of malaria and other major diseases.

Think campaigns are a waste of time?

The US House of Representatives recently upped their aid budget to their largest amount ever for combating HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria, three of the world’s most devastating diseases.

One congresswoman claims this is partly due to the action by members of the ONE campaign.

Democrat Barbara Lee says:

“The letters and calls made by ONE campaign members epitomize the power of what is possible when one person takes a stand for what is right. Each of you has stood up to be counted because you know that stopping the spread of the global HIV/AIDS pandemic is possible, and that together we can turn that possibility into a reality.”

Despite this the USA is one of many rich nations not dolling out what they agreed to (see Goal 8).
